Labana continued his primary and secondary education at Comboni College Khartoum. The surviving 2000–2001 record identifies his transition to the University of Juba to study law and records a result of 73.1 percent.
The study of law
From 2001 to 2008, he studied at the University of Juba while the university was operating in Khartoum. His Bachelor of Law, Division Three, was awarded on 28 August 2008. University life joined academic discipline with friendships that endured into professional service.
Skills beyond the classroom
A Danga Computer Science diploma records further study from March to June 2007, with an overall grade of Very Good. The courses included computer operations, internet use, Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
