A legal career begins
An official appointment record marks Labana’s entry into government legal service as Legal Counsel within the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Constitutional Development of the Government of Southern Sudan. The appointment took effect on 1 March 2009 and the letter was issued on 23 March.
Practice as a second school
The first years of service transformed academic knowledge into professional judgement. Court routines, document preparation, consultation, careful listening and collaboration strengthened the habits required for public responsibility.
Continuing legal education
From 23 to 25 March 2010, Labana participated in a Workshop on Electoral Law in Juba. The programme addressed democracy, electoral systems, the National Elections Act 2008, offences, complaints and appeals.
